Isfahan rugs are one of the best and most expensive handmade Persian rugs. The ornament of isfahany is normally plant, in the figure most frequent combination of blue, pink and dark blue, the color of the background is not rare ivory. Sometimes used in the manufacture of rug yarn and more than 15 colors. Single copies of isfahany rugs reach densities of 4 million units, this are just for order and takes to make a few years.
The city of Isfahan, capital of the same province of Iran, a major industrial and scientific centre with a population of about one million people. It is located 450 kilometres south of the current capital, Tehran. Isfahan, the ancient city, but it became known in the 16-17 century, at time of the Persian Safavid dynasty, when a shah of the dynasty, Abbas, moved its capital to Isfahan. Shah Abbas famous patron of science and arts and Isfahan in his rule has become a truly cosmopolitan city, the eastern city of artists, poets and philosophers. In museums around the world and private collections remained quite allot isfahany rugs from 16 and 17 centuries.
Before World War II Isfahan firmly restrained one of the first places on rug manufacture, among other Persian carpet centers. Features isfahany fine weaving, the contrast between the border and the central-field attracted many buyers, as in the Persia, and in Europe and the United States.
Isfahany appropriated not only in the capital of the province, but also in the surrounding towns, and in mid-century carpet buyers began to produce one-Naina. Wizards of Naina softened traditional contrast of isfahany rugs, making the tone more uniform, were actively using silk to emphasize bright image and has raised density woven carpets.
As a result manufactories of Naina managed to delay a substantial part of buyers, and Isfahan craftsmen had to learn from their students how to increase the density of woven silk and use more, not only for free : if the old isfahany of ducks and cotton, the basis for all modern most silk.
Among the many carpet shops Isfahan best known for manufacturing Serafian. Some researchers argue that the current design of Persian rugs, much of the fruit of that manufactories. Like leg with manufactory Habibian of Naina on the world market much more fake serafian rugs than original, and some even publish small "directories" manufactories Serafian forged signatures on the carpets.
Despite the innovations, Isfahan craftsmen carefully and underline "the times" - in particular, that they often copy the old carpet ornaments in new products. And recently in Isfahan readily dried carpets depicting scenes from the romantic works of Omar Khayyam.
With regard to the special "technology" and isfahany in particular, the P. R. J. Ford, a rugs trader and the author emerged in 1950, author of "ornament of eastern rugs" noted that the carpets filaments are often uneven thickness, so isfahany flip side is less" regular "appearance than tebrizy or kashany.
The mostly produced isfahany rugs at smaller sizes -1 to 1.5 meters, and 1.5 to 2 meters. Though its not hard to meet other sizes, including very large-3 to 6 meters or more. Usually smaller carpets are better density. Wizards of Nedzhefabad located to the west of Isfahan, similar but more serious rugs that are often large.
There are several differences between isfahany similar carpets and other traditional centers of Persian carpet. Tebrizy very reminiscent of isfahany but met symmetrical (Turkish) node and are more regular back of the picture. The latter feature is for kashany and, in addition, the carpets, unlike isfahany, less experienced design innovations of 20th century and remained close to the tradition. Naín often so similar to isfahany that sometimes it is hard to determine the exact origin. A common observation is that Nain is usually more homogeneous and more bright color as the same isfahany experienced dramatic contrast.
